Nick Saglimbeni, who owns Slickforcestudio, a professional state-of-the-art production house which specializes in photography, retouching techniques and image compositing, approached Contus to enhance and resolve the existing issues in the web portfolio of his company, Slickforce.com.

Challenge

Slickforce.com came into existence in the year 2004. Ever since its existence, the quality of it was something which was hindering Nick Saglimbeni. The following were the challenges which were put forth by Nick to Contus.

The 'Dock' effect

The first solution which we provided to Nick was a smoothly working backend for adding images and an appealing front-end for displaying the images in the best quality possible.

Slickforce.com was completely developed on PHP and hence we deployed our hardcore php brains to get this job done. We created a simple-to-use back end through which images can be uploaded. For the front-end, we chose to provide a 'Dock' effect which is a prominent feature of graphical user interface of OS X operating system used in Mac desktops, notebooks and laptops.

This exhibited his studio work in the web area without a slightest of slip in quality. Contus' other key-note achievement in gallery customization was the integration of 'Nivo Slider' wordpress extension in Nick's blog, online store and his other ambitious projects like photokamp, slickforcegirl.

Design polishing

The eCommerce face of slickforce.com, (store.nicksaglimbeni.com) was designed on Shopify's eCommerce platform. The store's design was nothing but one out of the numerous templates provided for online stores created using shopify and Nick wanted to customize it.

Having Nick's requirements in mind, the designers in Contus customized the existing design in such a way that it induced a fresh look into the store and replicated the thoughts of Nick with utmost perfection. Moreover, for Nick's personal blog Contus came up with an eye-ball grabbing banner work for promoting the other sites linked with slickforce.com

PHP to WordPress

Besides all these customizations, Contus was given another major challenge which was the conversion of sites photokamp, ultimategraveyard and slickforcegirl from PHP platform to Wordpress. Contus achieved this feat by paying attention towards design and look of the website, content backups, browser compatibility, css design and backend options for editing and updating contents.

Menus and modules

For Nick's online store, Contus simplified the back-end operations to a significant level by incorporating the 'My Shopify' module. Following this, various levels of customizations were done to add additional Menus and their appropriate back-end controls.

Nick's slickforce.com required a lot of betterment in terms of appearance and usability. To set this right Contus worked on proper alignment of columns and layouts. For a better user experience the drop-down menus were tuned for more clarity and a fluidic effect was given to provide a smooth sliding feel.

Multiple language support

Contus also addressed the need of Nick for multiple language support for his blog by incorporating the WMPL Wordpress plug-in. After getting powered by this plug-in his blog is now able to support English (US), German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages.

Online Portfolio

Contus came up with a static website slickforce.com/creative which is the online portfolio of slickforcestudio. This portfolio has been completely coded using HTML 5 and designed for responsiveness in mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.
